In the end, it turned out that the daring Nutmeg/Clove/Upside Down portions of the pie making plan worked out pretty well. You could definitely taste that the pie had been baked upside down, and a few of the pieces of apple in my piece were clearly upside down in the pie, but the taste could be described as Delicious, and really, that's the important part isn't it?
