Finally, with all preparations complete, I began the arduous task of coring, peeling and slicing apples.
It's at times like this that I really wish I'd listened to that tv ad a few years ago, wherein StarFrit offered, for FREE (with the purchase of some other thing I can't remember now), a magical device that would peel an apple in mere seconds, requiring you only to turn a crank on the side.
That sort of thing would have come in really handy for this part, let me tell you!
I also learned how pathetic I am at coring an apple. Good thing I'm a computer geek and not a geologist!
Sadly, because I lacked the magic StarFrit apple peeling wonder (oh technology, why do you mock me so?!), I was unable to peel the apples fast enough, and so some parts of them turned brown. All my hard work, for naught! Oh, the agony!
