Ok, so we stopped the president from being assassinated! To represent this, we flip over the linchpin card. Now we can see that Lincoln was merely wounded insteadof killed. On this side of the card, the icon for the Lincoln hat is red, to indicate that this is an alternate history.
Now that the linchpin is flipped, we check the years listed on it to see if any of the ripple points will be paradoxed. The ripple point at 1868 says that it will be paradoxed if the lincoln hat is red, and it is, so we flip it over. Now there is a paradox! Andrew Jackson can't be impeached if Lincoln is still president!
The Paradox side of the card tells us that if the Linchpin for the Lincoln assassination is reverted back to normal (i.e. the hat icon it shows is black, someone switches history so that Lincoln is again assassinated), this Paradox will be restored. In that case, it would be flipped back over to the way it started.
Remember that if there are ever 13 Paradoxes at one time, the game is over and everyone loses! We don't want that to happen. We should fix the paradox.
