The first thing we embarked upon was the painting of the place.
In all, the kitchen, living/dining area and the two bedrooms were painted. The Den was supposed to be painted the same color as the living/dining area but things were taking so long overall (there were a lot of wall repairs to do for example) that we decided to leave that room as-is and paint it later.
The Bathroom, Pantry and Laundry closet were also not painted, but that was by design and not because painting is hard.
Before painting really started in earnest we decided that we would go ahead and replace the baseboard instead of trying to re-use what was there. In addition the replacement baseboard was a good inch taller than what was there already (it was very short baseboard indeed).
As a result instead of having to cut around the baseboards of everything we could just paint right down to (and on top of) the existing baseboard, knowing that it would be thrown away anyway.
When it comes time to paint the stuff that hasn't been painted yet we'll have no choice but to do it the hard way. However that amount of baseboard cutting is as nothing compared to all of the areas already painted.
