Here is a shot of a final "board" or "map" from a game of
Carcassonne. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it pretty much covers our entire game playing table, although there are still gaps left on all sides.
Our table is a 3" x 3" folding card table, bought exclusively for the purposes of playing Carcassonne, because our coffee table was much too small. Of course, since we had a big table, it was possible for us to buy more expansions to get more tiles so that we could make bigger cities and roads.
This board consists of:
- 2 complete Carcassonne base games, each of which contains 72 tiles.
- 2 complete river expansions (that come with the base game), each consisting of 12 tiles.
- 1 King and Scout expansion, which contains 5 playable city tiles (plus The King and The Robber Baron)
- 2 Traders and Builders expansions, each of which contains 24 tiles
- 2 Inns and Cathedrals expansions, each of which contains 18 tiles.
Which has our current playable tile set up at 257 tiles (269 if you count the
Count of Carcassonne expansion, which we didn't play with here.
Anyway, this concludes our brief introduction to the most evil game ever devised by man, and by far the most evil christmas present that we have ever received! I hope the pictures make you curious enough about the game to want to give it a try.
If you live in or near Surrey BC, you can visit Craving for a Game in the Surrey Place mall (now the Central City mall) and the owner will be glad to play a game with you free of charge so you can decide if you like it. He also rents games out, if you'd like to try it for a bit before deciding to buy. But the game is cheap! and Fun! And also, if you go there, tell them that the crazy Carcassonne people sent you. They'll know who we are!
